Mikey Manville

As a versatile singer/songwriter, Manville turns from maddening front man in the psychedelic, blues-infused quartet The Manvils, to a soulful folk-rock troubadour. Vancouver-based and native Torontonian, Mikey Manville has spread his intense musical sermon across North America. Connecting three times in three years with Chicago Producer and fellow tunesmith John Akred, multi-instrumentalist Manville is set to release his much anticipated debut solo album, Broken Arms on October 30th 2007.

Manville’s solo sessions at Akred’s remote Clodock Recording Parlor culminated in 25 recorded songs, all written and performed by Manville. Four songs include the sonic wizardry of legendary pedal steel guitarist Bob Egan (Blue Rodeo, Wilco). Together, Akred, Egan and Manville have melded a musical journey that is Broken Arms. After several months of agonizing picking and choosing, 13 songs were selected by Manville and mastered by the “Tone King”, Graemme Brown. Together these songs best represent the personal attachments and detachments of life, love and the human condition from the mind of troubadour Mikey Manville. With every performance, Manville continues on his rock‘n’roll pilgrimage in the name of his heroes, from the pioneers H. Williams Sr., J. Cash and M. Haggard, to the moderns, S. Earle, E. Smith and Marah.
